Sympathy Card for a Friend

Hi,

It's a gorgeous sunny day in Canberra today that has a lot of people smiling - possibly because it's also Friday.

For one of my cousins, though, it is a sad day because she said goodbye to her mum, who has been battling cancer for months now. I've made Julie and her beautful family a card to let them know that they are loved and thought about, even though we are many kilometres away.

I cased the card from Connie Stewart, who makes stunning cards. Thank you, Connie, for the inspiration today.

Products Used:

Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather inks
Highland Heather ribbon
A Little Lace stamps
Sentiment stamp from Good Morning Magnolia stamp set
Pearlised Doily
Silver Foil paper
Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies

I hope you have a lovely Friday creating special memories with your family,

Kristina

Another sympathy card made later in the day for a Stampin' Up! friend:

A Good Man

Thank you for visiting today!

I've made a couple of cards for some of the men in my family. We have so many fond memories of time spent at the beach over the years, so the stamps in A Good Man and Lilypad Lake are perfect for them!

Tip: stamp the man on the deck chair first, then stamp off on a scrap piece of paper or a sticky note. Cut out the shape of the stamped image on the scrap paper/sticky note and place over the stamp on your card before stamping the water. You could do the same with the boats - I chose to colour them in darker colours instead so the man on the chair would stand out more. The birds are from the Above the Clouds stamp set.

Here is the inside of the card (this one is for my dad):

This card is for my son:

The stamps in A Good Man are great for birthdays as well as Fathers Day, which is in September for Australians. If you have any questions about techniques or Stampin' Up!, please contact me.

Take care,

Kristina x

Butterfly Beauties in Lovely Lipstick

Hi - welcome to my page!

Just a quick post to show you the same card as yesterday but in Lovely Lipstick and Pretty Peacock. I've added some rose metallic thread and shortened the timeless label to fit the card better. I didn't want to hide those beautiful butterflies.

I hope you are having a great day!

Balmy Butterflies

Butterflies are filling up my craft room!

I wish they were real, but they are still beautiful. They remind me of the time we visited the Butterfly House in Kuranda, Queensland, when my boys were much younger.

Here's today's card:

Today's card has lightly watercoloured balmy blue on a whisper white background. I've used the Butterfly Beauty Thinlits Dies to cut the watercolour paper and then placed the die cut back with Stampin' Dimensionals to lift it a little.

I've added another layer using the biggest butterfly in Balmy Blue cardstock and given his middle some shine with Frost White Shimmer Paint.

The sentiment is from the matching Beauty Abounds stamp set. Clear rhinestones add some bling.

The card is CASEd from this year's Annual Catalogue and tweaked a little, as always.

I'm interested in your thoughts - would you add in a stronger colour for the largest butterfly? Or would you add some twine or ribbon? Any other ideas?

Looking forward to hearing from you. I hope you are having a wonderful day,

Kristina 🌷

Purple Posy meets Butterfly Wishes

Hi,

Are you patiently waiting for Stampin' Up!'s purple posy inkpads to be available?

As a workaround, I used the Purple Posy markers to ink my stamps instead to create this birthday card.

Purple Posy works well with Highland Heather (HH used for the sentiment, ribbon and extra butterflies). The butterflies and sentiment are from the beautiful Butterfly Wishes stamp set pictured below.

The small butterflies were stamped with Frosted White Shimmer Paint (tip: use a dauber to add shimmer paint from the lid and then wipe off the excess into the opening of the container - you only need a tiny amount and a light touch on your stamps).

I've used the same paint to go around the edges of the Tailored Tag punched out piece, with some purple posy ink from the marker to soften the edges. The cardstock is Purple Posy and Whisper White.

I finished off the card with the new In-Colour faceted dots.

While the images aren't as clear when using the marker as they would be with the inkpad, I still enjoyed playing with Purple Posy today.

I hope you are enjoying your day,

Kristina x

Hello Thursday!

Good morning!

I wanted to share a card made for a friend's birthday using the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. I love this DSP and I know she will adore the colours used.

Other products used:
  • Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon
  • Stitched Nested Dies
  • Old Olive ink to soften the edges - although one of my cats said hello and bumped me a little, so I was a little more heavy handed with the inking than usual to cover the extra splodge of ink!
  • Well Written Dies
  • So Saffron Cardstock
  • Whisper White Thick Cardstock for the card base
  • Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Big Shot by Sizzix
  • Tear and Tape adhesive tape
  • Multipurpose Adhesive
No extra bling, you ask? I think the ribbon is enough bling, although it's hard to see the silver edging in this photo.

Bye for now,

Kristina

Playing With Perennial Essence Designer Paper

Hi,

I received some new products from Stampin' Up! this morning and just had to play with some of them. I'm sure it's more important than housework, right?

The background paper is Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper - I love the colours in this piece! I used the large Stitched Lace die with Whisper White Shimmer cardstock to create shimmery lace and topped it with some Pretty Peacock Scalloped Linen Ribbon. I love my bling so I added the rhinestones from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones pack and I daubed around the border and centre of the Floral Essence flower stamp with Frosted White Shimmer Paint. The flower is once stamped off Blackberry Bliss and the sentiment from Butterfly Wishes is also in Blackberry Bliss.

A quick, simple card for today.

Since I only used one of my newly acquired stash items, I will now have to make at least one more card today and use the other products. I think that's a reasonable excuse to continue the crafting fun.

Here is what I bought - I think it is the smallest order I have ever done! I am looking forward to using the gorgeous In-Colour Faceted Dots and the Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon.

I hope you are enjoying your day as much as I am!

Kristina

Above the Clouds

Hi again,

Here is my quick card using the Above the Clouds stamp set and Hot Air Balloon punch. I've also used the Pretty Label punch because it doubles well as a cloud.

Stampin' Up!' Above the Clouds Bundle

Hi,

It's a cloudy day here so I'm looking for inspiration Above the Clouds, where I can forget it's a cold wintry day. If you haven't seen this bundle, Brian from Stampin' Up! has a short video to introduce you to the stamps and punch:

Here is one of the cards from the Annual Catalogue featuring the bundle:

I love the balloons, sentiments and clouds in this bundle! The Hot Air Balloon punch can also be used to make gorgeous 3D flowers.

I'll post my projects later - right now I'm off to crank up the heater, put some music on and enjoy crafting.

Bye for now,

Kristina

My First Play with the Gorgeous Floral Essence Bundle

Hi,

You know when you have one of those days that you just need to take it easy? Well, today was one of those days, and it gave me the perfect excuse to play with the Floral Essence bundle. For inspiration, I set myself a few goals:

1. I had to try a new technique - I chose blending ink colours without leaving lines (using a sponge)

2. I had to break open and use some of the Perennial Essence DSP

3. I finally unpacked my heat gun and embossing powder, so I wanted to include embossing

4. I had to use at least half of the stamps in the Floral Essence stamp set

5. I had to case someone else's cards - I rarely do this but there are so many amazing designs out there that others have kindly shared, so why not?

6. Have fun!

I managed to reach all my goals and had a wonderful afternoon creating cards.

For my first two cards, I cased Kaylee Van Es' card from her April 2019 OnStage Product Spotlight Event and tweaked them. I used her background design for one card and the embossed flowers on the second one.

The third card was cased from Tami Hewlett's TGIF Challenge - I chose Seaside Spray (my favourite In-Colour) and added some Wink of Stella to create some sparkle.

This one is definitely my favourite card for the day!

If you have any questions about techniques or products used, please ask. All products are available to order in my online shop (except for the Highland Heather ribbon - there are many other available ribbon options that would work beautifully): http://bit.ly/KristinaSU. Don't forget to use the June Host Code 96KTRFTW unless your order is over $250 so I can send you a thank you gift.

Until next time,

Kristina 🌸

Using Up Scraps of Designer Series Paper the Fun Way

Hi,

Last night I spent ages cutting out the full images of the birds and flowers on a page of the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper (DSP). I couldn't bear to throw away the leftover pieces that had parts of birds and flowers on them, so I popped them into a container for another day.

Well, today was another day and I decided I would try making a floating frame card for the first time - using the leftover pieces from last night. Most of the paper had a straight edge as it was cut from the sides of the 12x12, so I arranged the pieces onto a card front until I was happy with the "floating frame" I had made. I decided against using the Glad Press 'n Seal because I had the straight edges lined up around the card edges and I love a challenge!

Taking a photo of your design at this point is a great idea, because once you start adding dimensionals or your cat decides to jump up onto your craft table to say hello and...well, you know...you end up with little pieces of DSP in the wrong places. The photo made it easy to attach the DSP where I wanted it to be using Stampin' Dimensionals (and my cat had a happy cuddle too).

I found a Stitched Nested Labels die that fitted the sentiment perfectly, and attached it flat so my frame would stand out. I added some whisper white polka dot tulle ribbon and some pearls to complete my card. Inside, I added some flowers from the DSP. The sentiment is from the Dandelion Wishes stamp set and the die is in pool party - I made the card for a friend who has just had surgery and I'm hoping to visit her early next week.

I'd love to hear your ideas on how you would step up or alter my design - please share your ideas!

If you are interested in purchasing any of the above products, please go to my store here: http://bit.ly/KristinaSU and remember to use the June Host Code 96KTRFTW so I can send you a thank you gift for shopping with me. If your order is more than $250, it is better if you don't use the Host Code so you qualify for Stampin' Rewards. You'll still receive a thank you gift from me.

Bye for now,

Kristina
